The IYR Standard
Setting new standards in yachting.

The 'IYR® Standard' is the cornerstone of the company's philosophy and allows us to show only the very best of today's yachting fleet. Once yachts have passed our optional multi-point inspection criteria, they are accepted onto the register as 'IYR® accredited'. This inspection is refreshed annually so an owner, purchaser or charterer can rest assured that any one of the accredited yachts on the register are among the best in the world in terms of safety, security, service, maintenance and operation.

Our aim is not to just reach industry standards but to surpass them. While most assess a yacht to a minimum standard, we have introduced the IYR® Standard.

Every yacht on the International Yacht Register has been subjected to a rigorous 50-point inspection that is analysed by a team of experts. Our report awards ratings on a percentage basis rather than just a pass/fail marking. 75% is the minimum level of acceptance onto the International Yacht Register.

The IYR® Standard focuses on operational efficiency, ensuring that your yacht has the maximum potential for enjoyment, reduced running costs and enhanced value. Our Standard includes ISM, ISPS and MCA guidelines but goes much further in assessing the true quality of each yacht.

All of our yachts have an important advantage: being on the International Yacht Register they have surpassed the industry standards but more importantly they have passed the toughest test in yachting.

The 'IYR® Advantage' is an all-encompassing personalized service of everything that is required to run a modern Mega yacht, all at justifiable and realistic costs. With the world economic and social climates ever changing, IYR® provides a service that any yacht operation cannot do without!

The aim is simple, not just to accept industry standards but to raise them. While other sectors of the industry report to the minimum standard, IYR® has introduced the highest possible standard, the 'IYR® Standard'. Every yacht on the International Yacht Register has been offered an all-encompassing multi-point inspection that is compiled and verified by a team of experts. This team have decades of operational and management experience onboard yachts at the pinnacle of the industry as well as vast experience ashore building, managing and maintaining yachts at the cutting edge of the market. We complete a detailed and accurate inspection, and deliver a highly accurate analytical report. Meeting the 'IYR® Standard' gives all yachts on the register an important advantage over yachts that are not listed with IYR®. Owners, charterers, purchasers, captains and crew know they are involved with yachts that have proven they are worthy to call themselves the best, not only in safety and construction but also in operation, service, conditioning and overall quality.

The 'IYR® Standard' of course encompasses ISM, ISPS and MCA standards, however it differs with the inclusion of all relevant data that relates directly to the operation as well as the condition of the yacht; this includes the knowledge and background of the captain and crew, the cleanliness and hygiene throughout the yacht and its overall standing in the market. All of which gives a wider scope and a more informed basis for evaluation. It is imperative that the captain and crew are fully involved in the process as they are the backbone of a high-class operation and a great asset to the owner and the yacht. All areas are inspected and rated, from the engineering maintenance to the chef's culinary expertise, and the age and quality of the linen. There is no part of the yachts' operation or make up that is not addressed. Once the inspection is completed all the information is collated and a full report is made available to the owner and captain. The analysis is also available to owners and captains of yachts that do not meet the 'IYR® Standard' so the points in question can be rectified, with our help if requested, and then the yacht can be reassessed and certified.

This service is also offered to all owners, captains, managers and brokers, regardless if they intend to place the yacht on the register or not.
